Selling your soul online
In the end we’re all business people
Some sell dreams, some buy lies
Going around a yellow circle
Blurry eyes hunting for a prize
We shout and expect bleeding ears to listen
They got guns for brains and mouths for a trigger
Confusing serotonin, steroids, neurophysin
And freightened to death if we run out of liquor
We’ve been doing this for decades
Powder-coating our skin to not show what we need
Think we were harmless while playing with blades
Keeping our hands down and believe we agree
We liked to build mirrors that once were just shards
And tore them to pieces to walk on the glass
Painted everything black and abandoned backyards
Believed we were brave enough to let all of it pass
And after the war we made a promise
That we wouldn’t fail, that we’d fight together
And easy it was, to give up what held us
Only to buy the lie our souls were forever
And here we are now with our vows in a vault
Replaced our own lungs with eye-catching smoke
Became who we hated ‘cause our dreams had a fault
To the one on my right I advice it’s all a joke.
